Western Port Biosphere

The Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Foundation approached Web Prophets to redevelop their website. Seeking a new, fresh look the website needed to aid the organisation by presenting its projects clearly to the public, and encouraging support through membership, donations and volunteering. Recognised by UNESCO, The Biosphere is a unique area on the outskirts of Melbourne which seeks to create a sustainable balance between the goals of conserving biological diversity, promoting economic development, and maintaining associated cultural values.
The project had a lot of content - the primary challenge facing Web Prophets staff was to review all of the required content and to build navigation pathways to support a complex topic, with a variety of supporting documentation. An information based website - the site needed to fulfill several functions including:
- informing the public on the Biosphere and why it is important
- highlight the projects that are currently being implemented and report on their outcomes
- promote inclusion including membership, donations and volunteering opportunities
To achieve this model; Web Prophets worked at clearly defining content types and ensuring that the website design contained a fair balance between words and images.
